I know I am trying to avoid talking about yurnu and their portrayal of God. They said that he was based on the Old Testament and that just isn’t true. If that were the case then God would be angry at Adam because right before Niffty killed him Adam openly said he should be worshipped which ignores the First Commandment which clearly states that you not allowed to worship anyone except God. One of yurnu’s favorite ships is Adam and Michael which Old Testament God would have frowned upon, I am not talking about the fact that it is a ship involving two men, but the fact that it involved an angel and a human. One of the many reasons why God flooded the Earth in the Noah story was because humans and angels were hooking up. I feel like they were using the Old Testament as an excuse to make God an edgelord, monster, and bully. One of the many things that upset God was a soul going to Hell and he would have been happy that a soul in Hell found redemption and got to go to Heaven. God would also never call Emily stupid, in fact he would say she was one of the few to uphold the morals of Heaven. Unlike what some of the fans of yurnu is saying, I am not causing a controversy, I am expressing my opinion. I know that they don’t like people questioning their little comic, but I can’t stay silent on this, their art is good, but their version of God is a monster who is nothing like the one in the Bible in the Old or New Testament.

I'm gonna be honest I've been mulling over the cut dialogue post for the entire day because what I want to know is the direction of the developers.

Part of me isn't sure whether if the cut dialogue was cut content for the sake of cut content (i.e. time/budget limitations, it was too much/unnecessary for the scene, etc) or whether it was a change in tweaking Volo's canon character. (i.e. making his villainy closer/a foil of Cyrus.) (for the most I'm still not sure if the cut dialogue is considered "canon" or not, but for the most part until we see official content that contradicts it I will consider it as "canon" Volo.)

Because I don't know about you, but it's really telling something about his character.

As the avatar of Arceus, I will house that power and bring its gospel to Hisui! I won't let you, an outsider with no history here, get in my way!

Okay so, this passage is the part I want to delve into. A couple of points:

"Avatar of Arceus" - this pretty much explains the Arceus cosplay in the final battle. I mean it was assumed already if you know how iconography and symbolism works, but it pretty much plainly explains that Volo sees himself as a god or in the very least, as a standing representation of Arceus itself in the physical world.

"I will house that power" - again this is just a rewording of what already exists in the final scene, where Volo states he wants to "use Arceus' power to create a new better world". Note he doesn't say he will defeat Arceus, or kill it. I know it's common interpretation in fan circles that Volo kills/takes Arceus power, but it's important for us to remember that canonically, Volo DOES NOT want to kill Arceus. His reverence may be strong, and he does have this weird religious ecstasy brainrot, but he does not wish to actually kill it. Volo is a religious zealot.

And the parts that are bothering me the most are these lines:

"I will demonstrate his power to all living things in the sky, the earth, the sea! / ...bring its gospel to Hisui!" - this part is what I'm ruminating on the most. Because with this passage, it's making me rethink all of my previous interpretations on Volo, and I fear we may have been misinterpreting him this entire time.

This is again where I want to emphasize I don't know for sure if this is a character rework or cut content, because here Volo makes no mention of a "better world" by using the power of Arceus.

Because yknow what that sounds like right? Like Christian/Catholic preaching. Specifically the word "gospel" is used here, and he makes mention of "demonstrating his power to all living things". Like spreading the word of God? He makes no mention of this gospel of Arceus being love or light however, which makes me worried what this implies...

And this is what's bothering the most about this. Volo from this dialogue, may not be a saviour wishing to create a better world without suffering because his God designed a flawed world that included those things.

Volo is a religious zealot that believes the world is flawed because of other people, not because his God made a flawed creation. And that the cure to removing this suffering is recreating his own biblical flood and killing everyone and spreading the word of Jesus Arceus.

That's why Volo has a hard time trusting others in Pokemas because other people are sinful/backstabbing and cannot be trusted (albeit heavily influenced by whatever Traumatic Thing™ happened in his villain backstory that as of writing this, has yet to be revealed) but if this is canon to his character, it's a HUGE difference from what we were all interpreting. He's not staging a divine coup for the people, he's your Catholic pastor that believes if you don't believe in god you're going to hell. He's the holy crusader that is willing to hurt entire groups of people in the name of god, believing this harm he's doing is "righteous" because he's doing it for Arceus.

If this is what Volo's idea of a "better world" was like the entire time, damn I really hope he loses and gets a redemption. A world where everyone follows the gospel of God through force? Maybe there's a reason he's a villain.

Meet my new (and first) Ultrakill OC: Bezaliel! I honestly don't have a lot down in terms of his story or place within the lore, but I have been playing with some ideas based on his name meaning "The Shadow of God" (Maybe also meaning "Damaged"? Idk it's kind of mixed but the first one is most widespread. I'm learning as I go lol). He's also mentioned as being a fallen angel (if I'm not mistaken) so I've been toying with that as well. I know that most of his abilities are related to that "Shadow" aspect of things: moving through shadow, providing aide from the shadows, or even using the shadows in battle. The ball on the screen is similar to a familiar of sorts- something he uses to gather information or keep tabs on certain individuals. Considering the fallen angel bit, I might have him be on poor terms with the council, though that part of things is still up in the air.

I have yet to draw his physical weapon, but I do have some ideas for that as well.

K I’m not too deep into voyager yet but I always imagined T’pel as having the same kinda fanatical religious streak as Tuvok. Inconsistencies in the Bible: A Reflection

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” — Exodus 20:8 “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.” — Romans 14:5

This is about the Law. Christianity argues that in Jesus' crucifixion, the law is fulfilled. Therefore, ceremonial laws are not required (but ok to practice). This passage in Romans is addressing Jewish and Non-Jewish Christians having their own superiority complexes. Paul is telling them to shut up about what days they consider special because the important thing is to focus on Jesus Christ's salvation, the common denominator between the two.

“… the earth abideth for ever.” — Ecclesiastes 1:4 “… the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.” — 2Peter 3:10

“… I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.” — Genesis 32:30 “No man hath seen God at any time…”– John 1:18

Missed the point of the story; the act itself is wrong, and God allowed Jephthah in the same way you allow someone else to do something you know is very, very stupid. The point is to teach the Israelites not to make rash vows. This is echoed in the Sermon on the Mount. Also, Judges is all about people being not the best. This helps illustrate that. Note that it is never stated that God was happy with this arrangement.

“… with God all things are possible.” — Matthew 19:26 “…The LORD was with Judah; and he drave out the inhabitants of the mountain; but could not drive out the inhabitants of the valley, because they had chariots of iron.” — Judges 1:19

Ambiguity in the pronouns -- are you SURE the he in here refers to God, and not Judah?

“…thou shalt give life for life, Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot. burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe. ” — Exodus 21:23-25 “…ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.” — Matthew 5:39

Jesus literally quotes Exodus a few verses before Matthew 5:39. What he's doing here is expanding the law; because we can't be sure if our enemy is truly as depraved as you think we are, and also we don't live in a theocracy anymore, so the law is expanded, so we don't falsely accuse others and acquit blood on OUR hands as well.

“This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.” — Genesis 17:10 “…if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.” — Galatians 5:2

Okay, so this is an interesting point. Paul himself seems to oscillate between circumcision not mattering and circumcision being bad, but both are fueled by the same principle: Physical circumcision means nothing if your Heart (symbolic) isn't circumcised (given to God). In Galatians he condemns the practice, seemingly because people wee flaunting it as a sign of being more holy.

“Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of this mother…” — Deuteronomy 27:22 “And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter…it is a wicked thing….” — Leviticus 20:17 [But what was god’s reaction to Abraham, who married his sister — his father’s daughter?] See Genesis 20:11-12 “And God said unto Abraham, As for Sara thy wife…I bless her, and give thee a son also of her…” — Genesis 17:15-16

Genesis… takes place before Leviticus and Deuteronomy. I feel like y'all have no time sense. Okay, jokes aside, this is a good question. If God were consistent, why does he ban incest in one text, and then just not care on the other? I've heard that it was because He knew that inbreeding would cause actual problems by the time of Exodus, but before then, people had to do it to populate, so therefore it didn't matter.

“A good man obtaineth favour of the LORD…” — Proverbs 12:2 Now consider the case of Job. After commissioning Satan to ruin Job financially and to slaughter his shepherds and children to win a petty bet with Satan. God asked Satan: “Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.” — Job 2:3

Actually, Job was literally a response against sayings like "your sin made you sick" and stuff like that. It's saying that you can't victim-blame people for their suffering. Does that make Proverbs wrong? No??? Favour can come in many forms, not just material wealth. Also, it is to note here that Satan may not even be the Devil as we know him; that concept only exists in Christianity. For all we now, Ha-Satan, the Accuser, is a prosecutor charged with obtaining evidence for his case against Job. If he were the devil… now that makes it spicy. I currently cannot respond to that. “Go thy way, eat thy bread with joy, and drink thy wine with a merry heart…” — Ecclesiastes 9:7 “…they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not…” — 1 Corinthians 7:30

Okay, so these are different responses to the fact that this world is vanity. One response is to enjoy it while it lasts, trusting God. The other is to behave stoically, trusting God. I suppose the emphasis here is in trusting God, and not eating/not rejoicing.

“The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father…” — Ezekiel 18:20 “I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation…” — Exodus 20:5

Ooooh this is actually hard. Not to help that Ezekiel 18:20 is literally a response to "wait, doesn't the child bear the sin of their parents!?"

“Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man.” — James 1:13 “And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham…” — Genesis 22:1

The word used for "tempt" in James 1 is "πειράζομαι". The word in Septuagint's Genesis 22 is "ἐπείραζεν"-- They're actually different forms of each other! So how do we explain James contradicting even the Greek version of Genesis? Well, Augustine of Hippo explains It as thus (emphasis mine): 'It is often asked how this can be true when James says in his letter that God does not tempt anyone (Jas. 1:13). The answer is that the language of Scripture often uses the word “tempt” with the meaning of “prove.” Instead, the temptation spoken of by James is understood only as referring to that by which one falls into the nets of sin. That is why the Apostle says: lest the tempter should tempt you (1 Thess. 3:5). For it is written elsewhere: The Lord your God tempts you to know if you love him (Deut. 13:3). Naturally, this expression says: to know, as if it were said: “to make you know”, because the power of love itself is hidden from man, if God does not make it known through a test of his. “Honor thy father and thy mother…”– Exodus 20:12 “If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple. ” — Luke 14:26

This is emphasizing that you honor God, even when your family objects to your belief, as it is in a dialogue about not being afraid of persecutions. Jesus condemns his contemporaries for giving tithes instead of taking care of their parents as well, and Paul literally anathematizes those who abandon their family without cause.

“…he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more. ” — Job 7:9 “…the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, and shall come forth….” — John 5:28-29

Job is expressing his despair, not theologizing important truths. Literally right above we know that Job was not treated well. So with that in mind, maybe him complaining about life is not out of the ordinary? On the other hand, Jesus is actually theologizing about the end of the world. So basically this is someone complaining that science is useless vs an entire essay about why science is useful both mentioned in a scientific journal.

“Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. ” — Matthew 16:28 “Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. Some words are those supposedly straight out of the mouth of the “Son of God.” The world did not end 1800 or 1900 years ago. All that generation passed away without any of the things foretold coming to pass. No amount of prayer brought it about; nor ever so much patience and belief and sober living. The world went on, as usual, indifferent to the spoutings of yet another batch of doomsday prophets with visions of messiahs dancing in their deluded brains. The world, by surviving, makes the above passages contradictions.

For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” 5 For they deliberately overlook this fact, that the heavens existed long ago, and the earth nwas formed out of water and through water oby the word of God, 6 and that by means of these the world that then existed pwas deluged with water and perished. 7 But by the same word rthe heavens and earth that now exist are stored up for fire, being kept until the day of judgment and sdestruction of the ungodly. 8 But do not overlook this one fact, beloved, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise vas some count slowness, but is patient toward you,1 not wishing that any should perish, but ythat all should reach repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, and then the heavens will pass away with a roar, and bthe heavenly bodies2 will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed. 11 Since all these things are thus to be dissolved, what sort of people ought you to be in lives of holiness and godliness, 12 dwaiting for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be set on fire and dissolved, and ethe heavenly bodies will melt as they burn! 13 But according to his promise we are waiting for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells."
